The smell of bratwurst in the air, exciting rides, candy floss - and one thing above all: shining children's eyes! This is the picture on the premises of Westfälische Fleischwarenfabrik Stockmeyer in Sassenberg/Füchtorf this weekend. The company, which is part of the heristo Group, invited its employees and their families to the Ferdi Fuchs Family Day. The occasion for the event was the 110th anniversary of the company. The special feature: Stockmeyer also opened up the event to a large number of socially disadvantaged children from the region, giving them an unforgettable day.
A chain carousel, bumper cars and an ultra-modern voodoo jumper, which is normally only used at large folk festivals such as the Oktoberfest, provided a real funfair feeling. In addition, of course, there were lots of treats that no funfair should be without. Brand ambassador Ferdi Fuchs was also part of the party. "As a family business, we value two things: We want to strengthen cohesion within our heristo family. Of course, this also means that we celebrate together. It is also important to us to show our connection with the region. We have had our roots here for over 100 years and want to give something back to the children here in particular," said Marc Sodeikat, CEO of heristo and Managing Director of Stockmeyer, at the opening ceremony on Saturday, which was also attended by Sassenberg's mayor Josef Uphoff.
Astrid Bojko, principal of Bad Rothenfelde elementary school and representative of the "Menschen im Blick" steering group, which supports children in need and people in financially difficult situations, helped to select the institutions from which the children come. "It's a remarkable gesture that a company is aware of its importance in the region and enables children who don't always have it easy in everyday life to have such a great day in this way."
