With the medal, the foundation honors scientists for their life's work who have made outstanding contributions to consumer protection, food safety and food quality through their research and teaching.
In addition, the foundation once again awarded prizes and scholarships to promote scientific work. This year's science prize goes to Prof. Dr. Claudia Guldimann for her habilitation thesis on the interactions of Listeria monocytogenes with their hosts and the environment. Her findings are an outstanding contribution to improving food safety and thus also to consumer protection.
Sharline Nikolay was awarded the young talent prize for her innovative and practically relevant master's thesis "Characterization of oleogels in deep-fried foods". Oleogels have the desired properties of a solid fat and at the same time lead to an improvement in the fatty acid profile with regard to nutritional properties.
Katharina Miller was also delighted to receive a scholarship. She will be working on her doctoral project "Influence of the modification of potato peel-based films and coatings on packaging-relevant properties for use in more sustainable food packaging concepts" until April 2022. This is the twelfth scholarship awarded by the Heinrich Stockmeyer Foundation.
The Heinrich Stockmeyer Foundation is a non-profit foundation of heristo aktiengesellschaft and has been dedicated to food research for 26 years. It contributes to the safety and quality of food by passionately supporting projects and scientists.
