Bremen, April 2024: Good pet food doesn't have to be expensive - as the latest test of wet cat food by Stiftung Warentest shows. In the current study (issue 5/2024), it is primarily the products from retailers' own brands that perform particularly well. saturn petcare, one of the market leaders in the private label pet food segment, is represented in the top places with a whole range of products: Four of the seven products tested with a "very good" rating come from the pet food experts from Bremen, once again proving their excellent reputation as a reliable partner to retailers. A total of eight products manufactured by saturn petcare ranked among the top 15, including one from the animonda brand, which also belongs to saturn petcare. The company, which belongs to the heristo Group (Bad Rothenfelde), has been one of the most successful suppliers in the pet food sector for years, with annual sales of over two billion consumer units.
The nutritional quality, i.e. the fact that the complete food provides the cat with all the necessary nutrients, accounted for the largest proportion of the overall rating at 60 percent. Here, saturn petcare achieved an above-average result. Six of the saturn petcare products tested were rated "very good" in terms of nutritional physiology. The feeding recommendations on the packaging were also judged to be consistent, as too much food could exceed the cat's energy requirements and lead to obesity.
For Christian Schröder, CEO of the petcare division and board member of heristo, the outstanding result in the latest Stiftung Warentest test is a result of the company's consistent quality philosophy. "Pet food is a very complex product that requires a high level of expertise, especially when it comes to nutritional physiology. For decades, we have had the necessary experience to produce high-quality products - and at a fair price. The trade appreciates our expertise and we are proud that our quality has once again been confirmed by independent tests."
