Sassenberg/Füchtorf, April 30, 2024. Press release.
At the start of the new year, on 01.01.2024, the Westfälische Fleischwarenfabrik Stockmeyer, based in Füchtorf/Sassenberg took an important step towards a more sustainable future. The company has signed an exclusive electricity supply contract with two local wind turbine operators from the Elve wind farm. This contract marks the beginning of a future-oriented era for Stockmeyer, which is based on the principles of sustainability and CO2-neutral energy supply.
The partnership enables Stockmeyer to obtain electricity directly from two wind turbines in the immediate vicinity of the company headquarters. With a maximum production capacity of 2.6 megawatts, these wind turbines make a significant contribution to covering Stockmeyer's daily energy requirements. This corresponds to 40 to 50 percent of the company's total grid electricity requirements. Stockmeyer's commitment to the supply of wind power is longterm.
In a first step, electricity will be supplied under a power purchase agreement (PPA). In the medium term, there are plans to connect one of the wind turbines directly to the company grid via cable in order to ensure an even more efficient energy supply.
This commitment to wind energy is part of Stockmeyer's broader energy transformation plan. In collaboration with the Energy Resource Network (ERN), Stockmeyer has carried out an analysis of current energy requirements and energy flows. Based on these findings, measures to reduce energy requirements are derived and transferred into new energy concepts. In addition to its efforts in the field of wind energy, Stockmeyer is also exploring potential in the field of photovoltaics and energy storage in order to further diversify and optimize its energy supply. The aim is to achieve a CO2-neutral energy supply and thus make a significant contribution to environmental protection and sustainability.
